Yeah I had similar ideas too, I'd like to replace my cluster with a 7.2" widescreen colour LCD which displays all the usual vitals plus others, and can switch to a TV, GPS or what ever else I care to put through it (danger to manifold warnings! )
The megaview add on won't do what I want so it'll have to be an A/V out signal from a car pc or similar

You estimated $1000 originally, which gob smacked everyone who saw that figure, then you estimated $500. Then you post another thread elsewhere with another different figure and make no mention of it until the very end, how many people read and saw it until you linked it!

His 'original' guestimate included a wideband sensor. Keep with the program!

Once again... back to the point at hand...

Do you guys have any idea how we'd be setting up the injection settings in megatune... not getting ahead of myself, just trying to put all the documentation into context...

i.e. injections per cycle (2?), injector staging (i assume alternate for the V8 with left bank/right bank wired up at two groups?), engine type (even fire?)

Martin, our engines are indeed even fire. This means that spark evennts are divided equally over the 720 degree cycle. For example all spark events are 90 degress apart.

There will be two banks of injectors and they should be set up to alternate fire with 2 injection events per cycle (one per rev).

I would have the injectors connected in firing order. The first four that fire are on one bank and the other four and the other bank. At the moment my setup has one TB on one bank and the other TB on the other bank but I am using a single plane manifold so it makes no difference.

When I go multipoint (as soon as I can afford 8 new injectors and fuel rail etc.) I will connect how I suggested above.

Cool... so.. 1, 3, 7 and 2 on one bank, 6, 5, 4 and 8 on the other...

Simply a matter of connecting the injector grounds (i.e wire to ECU) together i.e. connect the ECU-end of 1, 3, 7 and 2 to create a bank?

Lol... someone jog my memory... the cylinders are numbered from front to back, yes? i.e. driver side, front of car is cyl no. 1 and passenger side, front of car is cyl number 5?

We'll Ive started to 'tune' a setup to plug into my 6 banger when it finally becomes available again. Looks like a fair bit of work to gather all the different data.

Tuning should be easy, as it gives you a basic setup for your engine type etc etc, then you just slap it on a dyno, or go for a nice drive...

What impedence are the six banger injectors?

Now to find a laptop :D

South, they are high impedence injectors so the setting of 25.4ms for pulse width modulation threshold, 100% pulse width modulation current limit will be fine.

If you wanna verify for peace of mind, resistance should be >= 10ohms

Stop the press

Here's an email I got from one of the guys in the states who will be providing some base maps for the V8.... points i am concerned with are highlighted in bold...

One of the guys in the states wrote:
Hi Martin -

My first recommendation is to skip the MS-II and use the regular Megasquirt v2 board. It is *much* more reliable than the MS-II. Also, if you use the "MSnS-Extra" firmware for the megasquirt, you get a much greater choice of options. Read about them here: http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra

Are you planning on running EDIS or a distributor for your ignition control?

I can get Geno to send you his maps for the 302, but I also have a good starter map for the 4.6 SOHC motors here, in the Mustang GTs. The software I have is only for MSnS-Extra firmware... which I highly recommend, if you're more interested in AEM or Motec-style reliability and tunability. The MS-II, which I am one of the testers of, is just not there yet for me to recommend it to anyone who needs a reliable system with many options. With the "Extra" firmware you get far more options than MS-II.

I am already doing what this guy has said. I am using an MS on a v2.2 board with the MSnS-E software.

Does anyone know the flow rate of the EA TB injectors. I know they are 100kPa pressure (all TBI's are low pressure). I think they are around 80lb/hr but not entirely sure.

Waggin, they are large funny looking injectors that wont fit in a multipoint setup. I intend to use 4 in two throttle bodies, which should give me 320lb/hr total fuel capability. Plenty of performance out of that.

That's interesting re: the MSII and stability... I've read a few posts on the MS forums from people having dramas.

I've ordered my MSI kit - as stated you can still do spark stuff with the ms'n's so I'll play with that for now until there's more info on the MSII's

Now to start stock piling other parts :)
