I'm assuming in my previous post that the testing car is a std petrol vehicle. Yeah, it's a pain to find a model specific to the ECU, but AFAIK it's the only way to confirm what it is.

I know its been a while but hey.... was looking at the sons 98 EL Gli that was factory Tickford gas and his is a 6TGD, mine which is a 96 EL Tickford LPG is 6TGB...
A list would be a good idea, it only takes about 10 minutes or so to have a look 98 EL tickford LPG Auto = 6TGD 96 EL tickford LPG Auto = 6TGB

well, a list of tickford gas ECUs :
4TGA 4TGB 4TGC 4TGD 6TGA 6TGB 6TGC 6TGD But thats in theory. Cheers

hey keep them coming, I will add them too my list and find out how to get them posted up in tech section, this way there will be a list everyone can double check on, so they can be sure they are not getting ripped off when buying an ECU

so reading all of that how can you tell which is auto and whgich is manual. my ecu code is 6TGE 96DT12A650GE. i am trying to fault find my car problems, the ecu was running a three speed auto and was told it is for a manual, were they correct?

My 10/96 is a 6TGB. Getting it replaced with a 6GTE soon.....

6GTB is better in some ways over the 6GTE, I did the reverse to you Infiltrator on my previous EL (now my sons car) cos 6GTE wont change to 4th in Auto til 70kmh in econ mode which I find rather annoying so changed it to the earlier one that changes around 60kmh which better suits me
