Is it possible to get 250kw from an ED Fairmont 4L engine without a turbo? if so, how would one go about it? :)

(i know this is a vague and random question but im very curious and should be starting engine mods in the next month~)

short answer NO.

and its not a vague and random question, its a common and re-occurring question.

if you want 250kw N/A don't buy a family car.

250kw at the fly is what...just over 200rwkw?

Do-able, but won't be cheap, you could probably have 400rwkw with the same amount of money if you go turbo.

damn =/

In that case, whats easier/cheaper/better power for money value? a turbo setup or a V8 conversion?

I've got my 18th b-day coming up and my family will all chip in to help pay for it as a combined present.. What would you guys do?

No way, and even a cheap turbo setup would be pushing 230-270rwkw

Indeed this is the case.

It will be a full rebuild, maybe a stronger block aswell, I'm not sure.

But would require huge revs, and would be an absolute pig of a road car

don't expect much change from $10 grand if you're doing it properly

you can get away with $5-7 grand but don't expect long term life expectancy or for it to pass emissions testing

For the same money as a conversion you could buy a tidy v8 easy.
