What are they if any? and what would i need to change to put a 4litre long motor in my car? would all the accesories from the 3.9 mpi go on? Also just using a ef 4litre for example would the motor need to have the coil packs to work properly? Im only planning on getting a long motor with no accessories so im hoping it will all go together without any mods, and i am able to just bolt on all the 3.9 gear, I assume flywheels are the same too?
Cheers

Yes it will fit, a motor is a motor basically speaking, gearbox will bolt up, engine mounts will fit and bolt up, and all other accesories, brackets etc will bolt and fit as best I know, the same exhaust manifold was used for EA to EF.

Just a question:
When did they switch from center point injection to multipoint?
Was it sometime during the EAs?

Some people tell me that theres internal differences between the 3.9 and 4 litre engine, to the point where im told its better to work a 4.0 rather than a 3.9? whats the deal is there any diff besides .1 of a litre, also how do you work out how many litres 40thou ( 1mm ) is,
Cheers

ive done a 3.9 to 4l conversion in my EA wagon, the motor is out of a xh ute (i think its xh or xg cant remember wich), all accesories bolt on, the 4l has a slightly bigger bore from memory and yea different head. All accessories bolt on without a drama, one thing you might want to check though is with 3.9's they ran a V belt on the alternator, the 4l crank pulley had a flat belt so had to change the pully on my alternator but apart from that everything else bolts up

cheers

chris

Ive seen an article in Autospeed (on the web) that chronicles
the E series Falcon engines, with much detail.
Rather good.

Try this link to "Awakening the Aussie Ford 6"
http://autospeed.drive.com.au/cms/A_2233/article.html

PS. I also have a pdf copy of the article, if anybody wants one
as the link doesn't always give the complete article.
