The letters are the tollerance for each bore, not allowed to be more than 1 letter difference is my understanding, ie A and B is find B and C is fin but A and C is not..

Thanks dc. Makes you wonder why they put a sticker on though. youd reckon the motor would either pass so put it in a car or fail and go to scrap or rebore.

So they know what slugs to drop in when they build it, they match bore letters to piston letters.

Lots of manufacturers do this, the letter thing....even do it for cranks & conrods too.
A, B, C.....they are all within a poofteenth of each other anyway.
