i'd honestly go the BA as they have the sequensial shift auto, more kw, and the looks of the BA s**t all over the AU. So for the 6k i'd be putting my money on the BA.. :)

AU is a reasonable car for the money... but the BA is so much further ahead it's not funny. I drove an AU XR8 the other day and really didn't like it after a BA. You can get a BA XR6 for reasonable amounts these days, and if you can put up with an XT they're *really* cheap - mechanically, the XT is only really missing the XR6's LSD and the suspension is a bit floatier, still a decent handler though.

AU is quicker stock. Lighter.
Better steering feel.
BA looks, like ten times better...
It's a tough one.
Think I'd wait a while, and buy a BA XR6T...
Second hand ones are starting to hit Mid-to-High 20's here in Vic.

go the ba! only thing i question is if the extra money for an xr6 is worth it.. unless u get the turbo of course. the standard features on an xt are impressive and an xt is marginaly faster than an xr6. xr6 does have extra features of course but this is fordMODS and most of us here like somthing a little different.

Definitely go the BA over the AU. A much better car and it eats the AU in terms of performance, refinement and interior.
I dont know where you got your performance times from steady ED but a BA is quicker than an AU. Check out this thread, how many stock auto AU xr6's have run that time along the quarter?

http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index ... =19681&hl=

As for the difference between XT and XR6, mechanically there isnt much in it except for 3.45 diff and suspension tweaks. However cosmetically the XR is a great looker and the better interior and dash certainly make you feel that your driving something that little bit more special.

The xt might be just a tad quicker than an xr6 from takeoff, however rolling response the xr6 wins hands down. My mates xt just doesn't have the same pick up. Whichever BA you get it doesn't matter they are both great cars. Cheers

I would stick with the EL and mod it.

You'll get a better car out of it by spending the same amount as the newer car but on your EL.
I am biased to the ELs though.

Spend it on suspension, engine improvements, brakes exhaust etc.

You'll still be in front money wise.

Hey Frank, it did a 15.1 stock as rock on premium 95ron. Apparently now they are going to see if they can run a 14 with it by using 98 oct and taking out the jack and spare wheel. Should be interesting.
Spend about 3 grand on that thing, edit, extractors, exhaust and intake and it will be ripping low 14s.

I'll eat my words then :D
I thought the BA N/A XR6's were slow.
More weight, not that much power advantage.
That's fast for a stocko auto, very fast indeed.
And with Flash tuning available for you BA guys, power is cheap.
Low 14's are embaressing my 8...

Ahahaha.....
unless you're talking about 14.9 inches... that ain't impressive.

If you want a fast car don't buy a ford.... get somethin' smaller.

fag
14.9 on the stock factory cam and head ( 187000kms too )with only minor intake mods and a full exhaust, ohh was done on a 27deg day too none of this nite time s**t with rd tyres as well!

so if i bolt on some slicks and run on acold nite a 14.7 should be easy
