hi.

just wondered

if you put in a el manifold when you put a el ecu in a ed does the power economy switch work in reverse as in if its in power mode its actually now in ecomomy or does it stay the original way it was on the ed ecu

if switch goes in reverse how could you get it to work in the original positions it was with the ed ecu. is it possible to wire up relays so the switch will still work in the original positions it was in the ed with the ed ecu.

how long does it normally take to remove the ed manifold and acc cable and pedal and put the el manifold complete with everything, acc cable/pedal and modify the cruise control cable. how much work is it

is it possible to join part of the ed cruise control cable to the el cruise control cable end with guy wire clamps so the cruise control cable will work again

when you put in the el bbm in a ed do you have to rotate the distributor so the plug faces the other way or will it be fine left the way it faces in the ed model

1. yes with the el ecu the power economy light works oposite.
so when the power light is on in the ed cluster its actually in economy mode.. this is because the el cluster has a light for economy instead of power,
i think it would be easier to modify the cluster light filter and fit the letering from the el so it lights up as economy...

2.it would take about 4 hours to remove and replace the manifold and do the bbm conversion..

3. yes i choped the ed cruise cable shorter, used the el outer cable end and used a crimp to re secure the el cable end to the ed cable.

the dizzy will be fine..
you only need to change the dizzy position if your doing the serpentine conversion using the el aircon compressor...

Actually aren't the EL cluster different as they use an LCD display and the word economy lights up on it so you can't use it to mod the ED one you will need to make your own.

LP, only the Fairlane cluster has the Economy word in the LCD screen. All the others have the Economy word along the bottom, which can be modded.

Oh well then don't look for a Fairlane cluster to help mod the ED one.

I just cut the power bit off my ED xr6 dash (the long black strip on the bottom or the dash with all the warnings and displays) and replaced it with the piece out of a Mitsubishi Colt Dash Cluster I had here for the POWER/ECON light for the 4 spd and power / econ lever. Works well its Orange not green now tho?

is it possible to use a el xr6 computer in a log manifold, will it just be the same power as a ed xr6 or will it run rough and how do people get the el xr6 computers working with a log manifold and run smooth and whats the fuel consumption like on a el xr6 ecu with a log manifold

only wondered

el had DUEL ignition maps for the BBM (short and long runners) id say you would loose power rather than gain any and pinging may be an issue too

if you wanted to do that?? just keep the ed ecu..
the main reason people use the el ecu is for the bbm function...

the exhaust manifold needs to come off to get the pipe out, and once the exhaust manifold has been removed you can get to the top bellhousing bolt with a ring spanner to undo the pipe bracket..
