I am sure this would have been asked before, but i cant find it anywhere so lay off the abuse :D

I have a EA 3.9LTR MPFI conversion. I have a pod filter atm coming strait off the original flex piping but since i found out this is illegal. (not enclosed)

What snorkel would have the best airflow that i could use?

If you have told your insurance company that you have a pod installed and they have added it to your list of current vehicle mods(eg extractors, sports exhaust, 17in wheels) then i wouldn't worry about the police looking for a pod filter in a ford falcon.

Maybe if you were driving around in a R33 skyline with 20in chromies dumped etc, i would worry then about getting a defect notice.

If it's exposed to engine bay heat it will be worse off then the standard airbox anyway.
I'm running a pod off mandrel bent stainless with a single flexi bend, inside a BA GT pod shield, fed with air from the XH snorkel.
Gives it a very nice howl under load, and seems to pull a bit harder, along with better throttle response (as much as can be felt with a slusher :P).
The EA-ED box has that rippled flexi bend to the TB, as well as what I see as a fairly restrictive entry into the airbox.

pod filters arent illegal.
they just have to secured... not just hanging there.

also the oil based pods are illegal because of engine bay temps and possibilty of a fire.

but dry pods are fine. just make a bracket so its secure

PODS are illegal cause of two reason the first is to do with the EPA noise pollution and s**t like that it is called hmmmm f**k i forgot the long a** word for it, yeah sucks in air and roars sounds cool helps a bit and yeah. the second reason is to do with were it is how it is installed and if or not it secureed and stuff like that
