500 holley is a two barrel. and 'jetting it down' will only make it run like a bag of s**t

there is a reason 500s come with 72 jets and not 63 or 64 jets like the 350s do.
they have poor air speed compared, which in turn means a weaker signal to draw fuel.

there should be a screw on the side that changes the air fuel mixture and then he would be able to race with the 500 on

thats an idle mixture screw, and there will be two of them.
all they do is control idle fuel.

If your donk is stayin near stock i'd go for a 350 holley but if your going to work it a bit then go a 465 and get it tuned by someone that works with carbys a lot that way you may need to under jet it a little to start with but as you do work to the motor you can put in bigger jets.
