Hey guys i am wondering about the difficulty of replacing the leads on an EF Coilpack without removing the manifold. I have changed ones on my old EB without the Manifold off but it killed my hand but it did the job, but on the other hand that was a Dizzy.
How hard is it to replace the leads on an EF without removing the manifold ? Also since its a BBM i can think that the manifold will not get in the way too much anyway, so what is the best thing to remove to make the job easy as pie ?

Don't remove anything.
Get under the car to connect/disconnect them at the coilpack, not too hard. Have fun! |

But how easy from the bottom is it to tell the numbers ?

Also what part of the car should i be going under ? i had a quick look but its far to dark.

You can do them from the top if you have skinny arms, otherwise it's bruised forearm time, but can be done with patience.
the layout looking from the coil side is: [________Engine_________] 1 - 2 - 3 6 - 5 - 4 Make sure you seat the new plugs on fully, they sometimes feel like they are on when you are stretching with fingertips. |

2 5 <-connector 1 6 front of car thats how they are numbered. so use this for when you are underneath doin them

So the easiest way is to lay under it and go from there ? Or is from top without removing anything just as easy?

Depends how big you are. Easy as from underneath though, just make sure you press them on hard.
Get underneath in daylight and look, it will become clear.

underneath you can just reach up and take them off one by one. a little time consuming but it's easier

Ok thanks guys this is the reason i need to do them. . .
today i was only going to replace the plugs but then the wire broke apart from the boot (i was and still am pretty sure i was pulling the boot) and so at this point the wire and boot were seperate, i was able to feed the wire back into the boot and it still worked. It isnt my car but its a family members and they are going to K.I next week and i think its best i do them before then. Can i get away without jacking the car up ? as i dont have jackstands

When I changed my plug leads I did some from the top and some from the bottom.
No way I could get at it from underneath without jacking the car up ... though I have lowered mine a bit. It's awkward to do and you might end up loosing a bit of skin ... enjoy

just remove the airbox and do them from the top, i changed mine in the ef easy enough.
do them one at a time |

1) On a EF(coilpack) or EL(dizzy) i just remove the airbox.
2) Remove all the leads, then mark all the new leads 1-6(using a white paint pen), put all the leads on coil pack or dizzy cap in correct order. 3) Now use a draw wire and place down through intake plenium . Tape up the 6 leads too the draw wire using electrical tape and pull up through intake plenium gap. 4) Now cause you have numbered the boots push them on the plugs in correct order. Should have it done in under 1 hr.

Yeah, +1 for above, but it is much safely not to get them mixed up by doing one at a time!
