I've bought some coolant, thanks to the fella who helped me.
Added it and yeah the poor thing took all 5L of premix and slowly is leaking the whole lot out now. The leak appears to be coming from at least 15+cm BEHIND where I believe the radiator to be, it's running down the block of the engine. I don't know a whole heap about cars ,but I imagine the leak coming out not anywhere near a tube / pipe or the radiator, may imply the block itself has a nasty leak. (I tried finding it, I think I need a better view under the thing which holds the power steering fluit) Here's a link - ignore the noise, it's some machinery from the apartment block. https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipM ... RLOEV4QzNB https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipP ... Y0WUZXaTh3 Here's a shot from the top, again I believe this to be behind the radiator, somewhere near the front of the engine itself. https://photos.app.goo.gl/nXi94HNXipQrxKai7 Obviously I'm taking it to be looked at asap (towed infact, stuff driving it) luckily she's not actually over heated, to my knowledge. Couple of nasty stalls this arvo but only drove her 5 minutes. I suspect it may be the end if it's it's not just a simple tube / ratiator in the $200 or $300 range, the car is already on super thin ice with my wife. |

Coolant leaks at the front of the motor would be either,
Driver side/ engine front: -heater pipe/tube on the rear of the water pump - The pump itself...gasket maybe -Lower radiator hose at the water pump Thermostat housings also drip on some of these ford 6's, but usually only a drip or 2. Do your mechanic a favour & degrease that thing first & just top up the cooling system with water until the leak is fixed. |

Just thought I'd follow up for others.
It was indeed the water pump, cost me $350 (I did none of the work) so I'm guessing that's pump, fixers hours, more coolant, testing. Has been fine since. Dunno if it was slightly too expensive, but she's ok now - so thanks |

$350 sounds reasonable, & saves you an hour + scraping old gasket off.
