I've taken a picture of what i was talking about before, to better explain where the coolant is. Does this help anyone at all?

Cheers

it looks like the dried coolant is on the sump so its prolly not the welsh plug at the rear of the gearbox.

so side welsh plugs or from the head

That green coolant stain at the front of the K Frame looks like it may be the bottom of the radiator leaking and being blown backwards whilst driving. Maybe even be bottom hose. or even waterpump seal.

As for driving it, that depends on how much its losing, and whether the loss is managable. Only you can decide that. A long trip for instance is likely to be out of the question.

Thanks guys!

So have a good look at the hoses around the radiator and water pump eh? I'd much rather it be that than the head. With regards to managing the coolant, im keeping a fair bit of water in the car just in case at the moment. Wont be doing any huge trips, but will keep an eye on the level, should be right yeh?

Since there is a bit of coolant staining towards the front, my 2 areas to suggestion are water pump seal/cracked or the radiator core/hoses.

Upon closer inspection today. I took a couple more pictures. As you can see, it appears that there may be a leak in the join of the hose in the pic below. Can someone tell me what this is? And if it appears to be a leak?

I havent been able to get it to a mech still, have been run off my feet with other stuff.

Cheers

In relation to the picture i took it obviously on an angle when under the car. Picture this.

My feet are handing out the bonnet end of the car and im looking directly at the sump/kframe. If i look at the left hand side of the k frame, about 5cm above it is this hose thing. The join is towards the back corner of the kframe. About 5cm from the corner bend, I cant work out where it connects to.

If i was to look at the engine from front on, it would be on the right hand side. Hope this helps.

ok that makes sense. is it a rubber hose? a heater hose coming from the fire wall/heater box joining to the metal by pass pipe that goes round the back of the head?

I assume its rubber, however when i squeezed the hose, it was reasonably firm. Felt like there was another tube/hose in side it. This confused me a lot as you could imagine.

the rubber heater hose i'm thinking of has a plastic snap fitting into the metal hose. try following it from the left hand side out of the firewall. the right side hose goes to the heater tap then the left hand side goes to the metal pipe. i think this might be the hose you have pictured.
