just wondering if the below pic is how to setup for a time chain reset? any common ways to stuff it up? any tricks? anything else to know?

Get it back together then rotate by hand at least 4 times then line up marks again. If they realine then all is good.

good advice nalane.
i do the same, i crank it by hand once, then use the engine (with no spark obviously) to ensure its not just the tension holding everything in the right place
