mate of mine just bought one, pretty stock 5 litre auto with a 2.5" exhaust. Has anyone here had a dip at one of em?

I reckon my car would chew it up and spit it out once i get the cam/chip/LSD done which is pretty soon, just wondering thats all! (im aiming for around 145rwkw by the way).

It does'nt seem that fast, just sounds like its humpin along.

ive been a couple that have had some serious work done, and they f**k hump, but i was just wonderin on how quick they really are with really mild mods, (exhaust/extractors/cam/chip/cold air etc)

by the way are you talkin 165 fly wheels kw or rear wheel, cause if u got 165rwkw no wonder you beat it!

Im not sure how many kw they are or how heavy exactly; however im sure they are hell lighter than your ef!
Being the 5L and being a vp..(old lol) it wont be "that" powerfull.
I honestly dunno enough to say who id think would win, but i do think that it wont be a case of eating and spitting the other car out lol, its wont be that far off whoever is 2nd IMHO.

In another Q, i got asked to drag a VS 3.8L commodore with extractors/zorst/3.63lsd/auto - just wondering how fast you think that'd be!
He tells me it does a 14.2 qtr mile however a few mates say hes full of s**t and the vs has been thrashed a lot.
I know its lighter and all, but has anyone had a run against em?
This drag would have money down too, between bout 8 ppl, might be interesting :)

I seriously think that the EF will chop the VP, the VP is old and the V8 in it is piss weak.

About the VS never dought those commodores they don't sound fast but they are lightning with mild tunes, from all honesty a V8 195kw fairlane will demolish a lightly tuned VS like that. Daniel do you have any qtr mile times or a indication to tell us how quick the FBT is?

What year are VP commodores?

Daniel, I reckon you'll have him, depending on how long you drag for though. I mean off line I reckon he's got a shot, but if you go a for a decent distance you'll outrun him,

no way will a 4L outrun a 5L.

As is the stock commonwhore 5L go good for what they are. (i know, GRR)
He will have you off the line because of his diff ratio and LSD, you might get him midrange, but after 100kms he'll munch you. sad but true :( lol

Falcon 6 and commodore v8 are pretty close in weight, seeing as you have a few mods it should be close. You have to be careful with their autos first gear, they launch like mad - I'd recommend a rolling start from about 50km/h mate.

I have no idea of the qtr mile times of the fbt, however i know it fkn pulls after 1st gear.
1st to 2nd change and all the way upto the 2nd to 3rd change pulls like crazy, keeps up with a vx SS ute upto 130 from stop on the freeway, he had manual, i had auto.
The ss cained me from 120-140, absolutely hammered but caught up by 150ish then he stopped..
Re: the vs i dunno, everyone there is like he will rip me n s**t, its so fast bla bla bla - not saying its not, but this is coming from a group who are all holden people lol!
I rekon itd be fast off the line for sure, auto, tall diff, lsd, light weight... all adds up, id have to take time to catch up.

How long are you planning to drag?
Come on if you can keep up with a VX SS im sure you can beat a lightly tuned VS

Well some of those mildly tuned VS V6's can be tricky to beat too!. Cause I had a traffic light drag with one the other night and admittantly he had a better launch and 1 less passenger but in the end we were pretty much neck and neck up and till the 60km/h mark were I backed off. I think the VS driver took it as a win, because I think he thought I was going to chop him at one stage. And I probably would of if I had 2 less passengers and a quicker launch and in a better Speed zone. Ah well you got to take your losses with your wins sometimes as well.
