imo if you going to extremes of putting a std cam that is the same cam thats in there, you might aswell put an xr6 or a small wade cam..
Provided the std cams actually are the same, of course you would.

from the info i have the cam profiles are the same, just the number has changed due to the year the 94da cams were made, they just ran out of 91da cams and cast up a new batch in 1994.. making them a 94da..
You'll find plenty of (94-96)EF's out there with 94DA cams, and plenty of (96-98)XH's with 91DA cams. According to the ford manuals, profiles are not identical.

if you doubt it contact wade cams they could tell you, if the cams were different there regrind profiles would differ slightly from a 91da regrind to a 94da regrind,, and they dont!...
Since the ford profiles aren't hugely different, maybe there's no need to have multi variants of the 4.0 OHC cam - only std and XR6.
I suppose an answer from a specialist cam boffin would clear things up here.

Alright, My EL ECU has arrived, and i have the BBM switch, Just need some info on installing it. I know it goes behind the washer bottle, and have a rough idea of the vacuum inputs for it, but how do i power it, and what wire goes to where. I see a red wire( assume it needs 12V+ )and a green wire ( assume its for a signal from the ECU) so which pin does it go to, and do i need to run an extra pin as i am still using the ED loom.
Any help appreciated.

Cheers
Brett

Just give the job to BenJ on Friday night or Dyno day problem solved

I know no help but you do need to add wires and extra pins to the ECU for the BBM switch.

the red wire is 12v ignition, you can splice into the red injector + or run a wire to pin 57 (12v ign)on the ecu..
the green wire goes to pin 15 on the ecu plug.. this is the one that needs to be added to the plug..

the vac solinoid..
a vacuum line from the bbm runs to the black side of blue check valve, then from the check valve to the bottom line of the solinoid then from the top line of the solinoid to the bbm diaphragm on the front of the bbm...

Cheers all.

Will get onto it thisafternoon. Where do you get a pin to add to the loom. Thats got me stiffed. Is there a pin on the plug and i can solder direct to it, or do i actually have to ad a pin to the plug?
Brett

That would be great, I shall endeavour to drop around tomorrow and collect it. Lastly, where the hell do you run the rune from the bay to the cabin. Its all semi wired up, bar the last pin. Vacuum connections done, power done, Pin left. Is there any benefit fitting the ECU before it is fully wired? Do i need to fit it so smartlock learns the ECU? If so i will do it now, even though it is dark outside.

Brett

ill dig the wire and pin out in the morning..

you can run the wire through the firewall where the little vac lines go through, it can be a pain in the a** to get it through as it comes through at the top of the heater box. might be easier to remove the glovebox and its surround to make it easier to fish the wire out..

you can put in the el ecu when ever you like, the ecu dont need to learn smartlock..
