Order type G. This was a Government law enforcement vehicle not a persuit vehicle but has no limiter, has a hard gear shift @ 5500rpm just off redline & has special instructions to fit NKU'' XR suspension with FR & RR stabilisers & Dampers. it is very firm but comfortable unlike most lowered cars. Not bad for a factory car, it s**t on that FE2 crap!

Not as a rule. Mostly they trash them for 40,000km then flog them off.

Well i got my ex-cop car for $8500 with 91,100 km on it when i got it. There is nothing wrong with me car at all. Everything works fine runs so smooth i couldnt be more happy with my car. I supose it depends on who drives these cars. But i think mine was just a speed camera car because i dont have many holes around. Just the glove box and where the cup holder is.

Not exactly, they didn't use all the same bushes etc, the give away was the fact that the nolathan type bushes was different colours and some rubber bushes instead of all nolathan type as per XR6/XR8. But the main reason for handling was there, the shocks were the same, I had to fit just genuine heavy duty shocks to a ex cop once, big difference in handling.

As for the ECU, I can tell you they went as good as a XR6 auto, and would blow away a EF XR8 ex cop car, I used to love flogging cop cars on test drives (plus using lights, sirens and radar etc), I never saw a LSD on a NSW EF/EL, single big blackies only.

The door switches for the interior lights was disabled for cop cars, this used to give auto elects hell when our car yard purchased ex cop cars.

Used cars department bought a lot of ex cop cars because of the Tickford suspension, ECU etc, they stuck Tickford badges, alloy wheels, rear spoiler and colour coded the paint etc. They sold like hot cakes, they worked on turn over more than profit as the cars still had new car warranty so it was unlikely they would cost them in warranty claims.

That it, just look for the "OPT20" on your Compliance Plate..
Mine says FLNE TVE in the same spot, nothing flashy sounding like OPT20

does the 'opt20' still apply to BA's. A local car yard is selling a BA XR6, auto, white with the nudge bar and driving lights, has an aerial base in the centre of the roof and dark tint.

Yeah youre right dealers don't know what theyre selling, even though it says in the log book that the original owners were the police... I got my OPT20 1996 EF with 129,000kms for only $3750 last month and it is still running perfectly.

BA's dont have OPT20 in them, nor do they have a different instrument cluster/bem/ecu or anything. Sometimes they have factory optioned LSD's, and usually futura spec interior (4 power windows, rear map lights etc) the rest of thestuff comes from computer programming with a PDS/WDS

I recently bought and resold an OPT20 EF in RED (it belonged to FESA not the police) for $2000. Sold it onto a friend for the same but yeh. it was a nice car
