Planning for modifications -

I need to move the LPG converter which is bolted on the drivers side strut tower to where the battery should be.

Problem is the high pressure LPG line isnt long enough. Does the entire length of LPG feed from the boot need to be replaced or can it be legally extended?

I think it could be extended.. mine has a junction after the mixer anyway.. so whats the difference?

Difference is legality. I know I can extend it but is it legal in Victoria...?

Yes it is legal but... the convrter must not be infront of number 1 cylinder.

Why not put it on the passengers side strut tower.. shorter vapour line means much better LPG performance.

Really? Never knew that.

If its in the battery area it'll definitely be in front of #1

How is that Legal?!

The convertor and LPG lines must be behind no1 cylinder, putting it in the battery area will make it illegal.

Never heard that one before, i'll ask my mate tomorrow.
A lot of AU 5.0 are mounted down under the battery, and on an 8 it's well in front of the #1 cyl... Waggin can vouch for that as that's where his is mounted.

When I installed LPG in my XC the gas convertors told me no liquid part can be in front of No1 cylinder. This is to protect those parts in case of collision.

Can't see those rules being changed. However it might be a Vic rule only.

If everything that's been said is accurate, I doubt you'll have much scope in moving the converter around the engine bay - I'd say on the passenger side will be too tight due to the BBM and the stock air ducting - the mixer will relocate fine.

If you were running an EA-ED inlet manifold, you'll fit the converter and mixer on the passenger side with room to spare - can't see you wanting to change manifolds though.

Let us know what mods you want to do - someone may have a solution that doesn't require moving the converter. Otherwise you're limiting the type of answers you get here.

Another thing you need to mention is convertor type, the Poliauto / Vialle are a very big convertor and take up s**t loads of room.
I had one here that i considered using but it wouldn't have fit in the space i wanted, i ended up using an OMVL.

Its an "aussie gas" converter and impco 200 mixer. Not sure if I'll be keeping either after the upgrades, there I'll need to consult an LPG specialist, perhaps GR in dandenong.

I'm welding up a low mount turbo manifold and I'd like to keep the BBM manifold because I'll have a wide and short WTA IC taking up space where the LPG converter currently is. The plan is to squeeze everything in on the exhaust side with an extremely short intake path. If it weren't for the LPG, everything would fit quite nicely. I might end up moving the cruise control servo to the battery area if everything else fails and mount the converter behind the strut.

If those plans dont work then I'll most likely go the EB2-ED manifold since an FMIC will then suit. I'd really like to avoid this, I dont want to cut anything in the body nor have it obvious from outside the car that its modified.
