At risk of getting blasted what I think this guy is asking is that would people likely to go to an engine developer route rather than the bolt ons, provided it was proven, however in this case nothing is proven YET, i think what he is asking is that if we say we would go down the engine development route, then by the sounds of it we will then see some prototypes out there with or withour results to backup claims. In otherwords a HYPOTHETICAL situation

This is the way I see it anyway, personally I would probably go down that way and stay N/A.

I think this bloke is thinking of building motors the same way CMS does.

Maybe he has a idea or the know how on how to make a 5lt out of the old 3.2 to 4.0lt I6.

But anyway,
without any testamonials from satified customers or more specific information forthcoming
I cannot see people handing over their hard earned $$ for a unknown, unproven package.

By all means set up and offer your services,
but do what some of the tuner shops do and install a motor or 2 in cars for R&D,
preferably cars that belong to some one on here.

Ok, I guess my idea could do with a bit more research.

Who is the 'retail' market leader for I6 engine modifications?
Nizpro ? any others?

What power levels are they getting from N/A I6's? what power levels are being made from Turbo I6's?

Once I find comparable power / services offered I will advise pricing
Obviously savings will be made 'cutting out the middle man'

Cheers

the problem you are going to have is, MOST of your potential customers don't want a race quality engine.

They want cheap easy upgrades that bring the most power possible.
This is why the 'Bolt On' market is as big as it is.
The reality is that an engine built with factory internals to factory spec is more the capable of sort of power most people are after. Again this is why the bolt on market is so big.

Your second problem is the fact you are trying to push an unseen product an internet forum, The group of people you are targeting by this, is the biggest Tight a*** bunch of people you will ever see. (sorry guys, but for %99 of you, it's true)

I'm not saying your idea is bad, you just have the wrong target audience,
and you don't have any proof of product.

You absolutely nailed it right there Ticky.....LOL

I'll take one. If I buy an AU1 plant and he does what he likes with it and ships it back, I'll put it in the front of the EF wagon and tell you all how much fun I'm having....

I have no issue with that what-so-ever.
