I know this is not the correct forum, but can anyone assist.
I have a laser which we have put a twin cam motor in. ie 93 KH laser 4 door 1.6ltr single carb single cam replaced by 1.8ltr efi dohc extractors and exhaust with stock cat out of 92 KF TX3 What I would like to know is, does it have to be engineered and if so how do I find out what the engineer is looking for etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey mate,
Yeah it should have an engineers certificate, is t licensed already? if so you could try your luck at driving it around with out having one, but wen you change motors you have to get a engine change certificate verifying the engine number and vin number, thats all i know. good luck mate |

Yes it is currently registered, what happens if you tell the rta that it has had a engine change and they want an engineers cert. If it fails the engineers cert,do they stop you driving it???

if the motor that your changing to was available (as an option) or in a later model of similar build there shouldnt be a huge problem in getting it engineered, (if necesary at all) find an automotive engineer in the yellow pages and ring them to find out.

you wont need a engineers cert. for this (now called a VASS in Vic)
it was a motor that was available in your car as an option. just go and get the engine number changed on your rego. |

in nsw you'll need a blue slip indentifying the new motor as not being stolen.

yes. a blue slip is all you will need. you are allowed to increase your engine capacity by 20% and not need it engineered.
keep in mind if talking turbos, they count that as a minimum 50% increase, even if its only a few kw. i was gonna do the same thing in my old corona, replace the 2L engine with the meatier 2.4L. also toyota engine, also option on coronas

Is that a 20% increase in engine capacity or engine power??????

its 20% in capacity. 20% in power is pretty much exhaust and intake mods. people here have done far more and not needed an eng cert.
thats actually nsw rules, im not 100% on the qld
