Hey guys in a few weks i will be putting my baby to the test at Calder Park with a few mates in other falcons - Nopt expecting much i have an AU 1999 Forte Sedan Auto - 2.5" Redback Exhaust, Genie Extractors, BMC Panel Filter, XR8 Intake and Stage 3 shift kit

what should i expect high 15s?? and any tips am going to be a bit nervous probably!!! just take off hard at the start or ease through gears trying not to get wheel spin?? never really ran anyone before so not sure what to expect - tyre pressure dropped?? they are 17" 235/45

simple get the car positioned, stall the auto up, jump of the breaks on the last or second last yellow light and hang on.

i recon high 15> low 16 you never really know till you try tho, but dont expect much from your first run, my first run was an 18.7?? wheel spun waaay to much off the line.

key is dont worry about the car next to you just concentrate on those lights.

easy high 15's
as u have the 3.08 diff

u will go faster with practice

drop the tyre pressures to liek 18psi BEFORE u head to the strip then they have heated up to around the right pressure by the time u get there

also launch when u see the last orange light or u will loose!

you wont get much wheel spin in a auto (well shouldn't)
maybe a bit off the start and i mite chirp into 2nd and maybe into 3rd if your real lucky but the track should be good i havn't raced at calder so i cant be sure but most time high uses track have heaps of rubber all the way down the track unless your packing like 150-up rwkw i wouldnt worry bout wheel spin

oh and have funn

good luck gom and give it a go.

A stock AU would do about 16.4 out of the factory so with the mods lets say 15.9 would be what I would expect. I managed this with the wagon with just exhaust mods so maybe even quicker in the sedan although the forte 3.08 diff may hurt the time. Fairmonts and wagons got 3.23 diffs to equal up the performance of the heavier models.

run about 16-18 psi in the rear tyres... run with half a tank of fuel n throw out the spare tyre n jack/subs if any... lift off the brake on the last amber light to flash up... n make sure u wash ur car before the meet cos everybody knows "clean cars go faster!

yes... when stalling up the auto falcons, the rear of the car tends to rise... doesnt affect traction.... just forces trying to turn the suspension n drivetrain inside out.. nothing unusual for the rear to lift up on an auto falcon...

Ok, but more specifically, say in an auto BA, what rpm would you bring it up to and how do you let go the brake on the orange light and "hold it there"? By flooring the throttle and then easing it off when you can go?

edited: also, do you need a high stall converter to do this? or is the stockie fine.
