I have a 1997 E150 Econoline Modified Truck with a 4.6L V8. I have owned it for about 10,000 miles and have had no check engine lights.

However, during moderate to hard acceleration—such as going from 65 mph to overtaking speed—the engine makes a knocking or squealing noise

In addition to trying higher octane fuel, are there any specific issues related to knocking in Ford 4.6L engines that I should be aware of? Can anyone help me troubleshoot this issue?
