Tested against Holdens 317kw 6.4lt monster, the FPV i6 310kw 4lt won on the quarter mile by a car length..

http://media.drive.com.au/?rid=39085

Ford did 13.1 and Holden 13.2

So it's official.. Holden got its a** handed to it by an i6.. :-)

So the fastest holden you can buy, is slower than the fastest ford you can buy.

It's not the first time. The old Hemi265used to be quicker than the Red and Blue V8's. If I remember rightly, the original XR6 was also quicker than the XR8 and Holden V8's of the time.

That's just a VE body with an American Corvette 7 litre big block in it..

Plus it's twice the price and as I understand it.. not actually on showroom floors yet.

We don't actually have any speed details for that.. It is rated at 370kw.. but it's also gonna be a heap heavier than the other two... (it has uprated everything and magnetic ride control.)

Will see....

clubsport VE R8 is a 6.2 litre.. not 6.4 litre... and the frord mayby slightly faster.. but each to their own on people that are either die hard 6 or 8 lovers.. with the amount of aftermarket mods available today.. either one can gain considerable power...

yeah what hes saying is that the xr6 in the early 90's were faster than the v8s of the time, due to less weight and better top end performance. only in manual form though.

Yeh but those times are slower than what we're talking about here.
The HSV beats both those times, as does the FPV.

I never quite trust journo times anyway, the BA XR6T was listed as a 14.2 quarter mile iirc and I got a 13.83 out of mine.
