i am either hoping it will be cheap to fix or so expensive that ill have to get either a recond eng ... and then itll be a good excuse to put in an ITS performance 1 or 2 engine. but itll all depend on how much itll cost to fix. and how much a non worked engine will cost (im on somewhat of a tight budget).

smartlock is electronic not mechanical so if he dosen't want smartlock he can use the original ECU. On the other hand if he wants smartlock theres a bit more rooting around with dash looms + new ECU etc and hes only on a small budget.

most wreckers will give you at least a 3 month warranty.
pm xr8 dismantler for price and if he gives warranty he should be able to get fitting for you as well. i would not touch a recod engine from say hm gem etc as they are not built to the best standards. would much rather chance it with a second hand item thats been checked extensively.
