Has anyone tried that helix thingo from Herrod or know of anyone that has?

If so, is it any good? Is it worth the $300 + ask?

I think it's called a "helix spacer". Apparantly it goes into your intake pipe and creates turbulence...I dunno. For $300 + bucks, you'd wanna hope it does something. I just want to know if anyone has one or knows someone who has one and what they thought of it?

to explain it ..... it bolts to the throttle body so incoming air into the throttlebody is made to "swirl" past cut grooves machined into the billet piece.. thus creating "turbulence" and a better burn of the oxygen coming into the engine to burn...

I've seen cars loose 20-25rwkw with one.
They're good if you let the misses drive and want to limit power.

it is not to create turbulence but the exact opposite, its to transform the air into a uniform flow pattern, what the point of turbulating the air? its about providing consistancies not creating inconsistancies. bit of common sence there.. as for gains? couldn't tell ya, but plenty of em out there.. don't go to herrod for gear they are overpriced.

So if its attached to the throttlebody (before TB or after TB, air is still being swirled as it enters the inlet manifold) wouldnt it be a bit pointless as the air would swirl into the inlet manifold, then its got to swirl around in there before being sucked into each inlet port? Like it would lose some of its 'turbulence' (used loosely to describe the swirliness).

Hows this for a better idea, if a helix spacer makes the air swirl for a more efficient combustion (i.e. swirling air allows for better combustion pattern) why not have a smaller version of a helix spacer for each inlet port?

I see that there may be issues with the injectors as it may space the manifold out a bit more, and affect the spray patten, so then the next step would be to maybe hack up part of the manifold and integrate it into the intake runners.

Hint hint for Jay's RPD with your 6-body TB.

yeah I can see your point wadi.. thats why helix spacers are very uncommon on I6 engines, its a V8 school of thoughtas the air does not travel through long runners or bbm's beforehand. I personally feel a helix spacer on a I6 would be detrimental more than anything else, with the 6 TB setup there is not forseeable gain to be had as the air is not traveling through and long length intake system, the idea behind it get as much air is as fast as possible, you can look straigh down the body when open and see the valve, so it is safe to say there is no restriction there to begin with to bother even trying to change air flow or channeling air.

Ah is it? I was thinking of the ea-ed log inlet manifold. But I have seen only one 6-body TB that another member had made (going back to FM B.C - before crash).

LOOSE 20-25rwkw??? Doubt it... That's a massive loss mate. Was it installed correctly? Did you see the dyno read out?
