Hey guys

Weird problem only on backing off of the throttle, the car hicups, like u no wen in 1st gear at 10 kays or less , how the car goes stops goes stops sort of, wll im getting that at any rpm only after backing off the throttle, no missing wen accelrating and no loss of power !?

i know its not choking of air, and i know its not a fuel problem, otherwise it would do it under full throttle, worse even, and it hasnt done a headgasket either....

whilst doin it i was coming up works driveway, wen i clutched in, it stalled...somethign electrical ???

just happenend recently...(past 2 weeks)

Probably a rich condition off throttle. A leaky injector or such could cause this. Could also be the opposite, a lean condition. When you back off and have high revs with no throttle (tps senses closed) the ECU cuts the injectors either off or to a minimum. If you have a loose vacuum line or punctured booster this could cause what you are describing.

Two other things I can suggest are TPS or ISC. The ECU relies on both of these when you are backing off the throttle.

are you using a auto ecu in a manual??????

yea i am using a auto ecu but that hasnt stopped me in the pass 1 and a half years....ill look into new tps or isc, but there is no vacuum leaks, ill check it out thoroughly tommorow though...could it be starving for air?>

My 88EA does the same, new ECU & TPS & Dizzy etc ..etc...and I haven't found it yet. Its like it doesn't quite get enough fuel at that time, but goes like a scouldered cat at WOT.

I doubt you will need a new one.

TPS is easy to check with a multimeter. The ISC may just be sticky, take it off, give the insides a spray with degreaser then some WD40 and give it a shot.

i may be wrong in your case but this worked for me...
when i first put the el auto ecu in my ea manual it did the same thing..
for the first month is was running fine and one day it decided to do it all the time.
the ecu thinks its auto so when you get under 15 kmh it gives the engine a rpm kick via the isc for the auto to change into low gear..
although in an auto you cant feel it..

to overcome this i cut the vss (vehicle speed sensor)wire to the ecu..
and it wont do it anymore...
