You dont need it to be that flexable... Mine is one solid piece and it is ok.... It isnt mounted to anything tho.. Just the rubber flanges at each end holding it...

would you be able to use the heavy duty a/c ducting or would it melt?
the reason i ask is that i also had a stainless steel intake on my last ef, and it got really hot.

metal heats up quicker and more then plastic, although i dont think it will matter as air is rushed in and wont have time to heat up.. i had a mate with a vn that used a/c duct around his intake pipes so they dont heat up, dunno if it will work much though

If it's to do with heat, i imagine you've gone one better on aluminium Get some strips of metal say 200mm long by 20mm wide hold one type eg copper between fingers of one hand and the other type say Stainless steel in the other hand. Place just a bit of the ends of both pieces in the flame of an oxy torch, at the same time, so they both get an equal amount of heat. Question which piece will you drop first.

This my friend's is refering to the specific heat value of a substance; a substance's ability to conduct heat... e.g. metal is a good conductor of heat whereas wood is a good insulator... This is why metal feels cold to the touch as it is drawing the heat out of your hand whereas wood feels neither cold nor hot to touch as it is insulating the heat in your hand...

The idea of air con ducting is, obviously, for it to be a good insulator... therefore it would take a hell of a lot longer to get anywhere near as hot as steel. (and keep you air cooler inside... cool and cosy8-)) The main thing you would have to watch out for is the silver metallic covering usually found around air con ducting... the leaning/rubbing up against a hot motor which is constantly vibrating wouldn't be good for it... You would have to find some way of mounting it properly.

Haha... I have to... Year 12 physics is a b**ch if you don't... Besides, I always manage to find a way for most things in all my topics at school to relate back to cars in some way or another... I learnt what was inside a Catalytic converter a while ago and exactly how it does what it does... interesting s**t...
