Hey Guys,
My ef futura series 1 manual is missing something cronic. I had a look at the timing and it is out a lot. I was wondering if anyone new how to adjust this. Also what is involved in doing it. Any help would be great. ASAP Cheers Bart

Timing is controlled by the computer so you cant change it. Chances are there is another problem. If the timing looks out it is probably just another slipped balancer giving you a false TDC reference.

what do you's reckomend take it to a dealer? I am stuffed on what to do. I need it because i get my license back tomorrow and i want to have some fun.

Maybe try the diagnostics? Since it's controlled by the ECU, I'd be guessing one of the sensors it uses is discconnected or broken maybe?

You cant change the timing on an EF. They are pretty much fixed.
How did you check it, while the car is just idling in normal mode, or in test mode? Normal mode will show it is out by 10 or so degrees as that is basic idle advance. If its missing, it could be the crank sensor, cam sensor or coil pack having a fit. Even a dodgy lean. I think its usually the crank sensor is the first one to suspect. It could be the balancer has spun, but thats pretty rare on an EF or EL. Firstly pull the codes from the ECU and see if one of the sensors is bung. |

have u checked the basics like plugs.. spark quality.. fuel pressure etc?

yeh everything like the plugs leads and s**t have been replaced. I checked the timing and it is way gone. I will just take it to ford because i have no idea about all these sensors and s**t.
