How much should an EF Head be? (estimate)

I am looking at getting one and doing some work to it so I dont have to have my car off the road whilst the head is being worked.

Are EF and EL Heads Different?

I have a 1995 Ford Fairmont 6cyl Sedan Series I

Is there anything that I should look out for when buying a head?

You guys ROCK

Always the way Rapier, the one who has one is not in the same state :(

I am in Victoria so yeah postage would be a killer :(

So if I pay $50 to $80 that would be about the mark?

a Stock 6cyl Head over $100 would be a rip off

Does that sound about right?

Paid $780 for a brand new Ford 95 EF head with my valve gear reconditioned and fitted to it. Couldn't find a good suitable second hand head in W.A.

I just got a quote from FTG Auto Salvage and they want $175 as well so you werent ripped dude, looks like thats the going rate with wreckers

If I get a head off a car that has done under, say 200,000klms and the car was in a write off their shouldnt be too much wrong with the head

cant u use an AU head ? generally there are a few sub 100k engines at wreckers. if u are going to get reconditioned u could always get your valve gear put it that one so u can still use your e series stuff.

Did you end up selling the head Rob? I was thinking of it just for some thing to have a muck around with.
