As the title states how tight should it be. The one on my au seems to me to be a bit on the slack side. 3-5mm of cable dissapears before the linkage on the throttlbody moves. I'm just wondering if it's streched or it's supposed to be like that

Mine is pretty sensitive. Giving it a nudge will make it rev and I believe there isn't much slack. I don't think 3 - 5mm is much of a problem, if it was 2cm maybe.

the cable on mine has about 3-5mm of slack in it..
aslong its getting full throttle i dont think its an issue... |

I'd be taking a peek at the throttle body with someone pressing down on the accelerator. If when the accelerator is completely down and the plate is not horizontal I'd be doing a little trick I learnt recently.
Get a piece of cable tie and wrap it around the little ball joint that is on the accelerator cable. Now the throttle is alot more sensitive with 100% throttle almost a certainty. |

I fitted my throttle not long ago, then noticed it developed some slack when settling in, it didn't go so well on the road, so i just took the slack out of it at the adjuster, about 2-3mm it was, and it's much better now. The adjuster is the circlips that are part of the mounts on top of the rocker cover. I don't see point in having slack, as long as the throttle is against the throttle stop when your foot isn't on the pedal.

Today i had a look at the throttle cable on my EL. It is not factory adjustable. There was a bit of slop, so i pulled the sheath back and put a cable tie including it's head between the end of the sheath and the mount. Then i looked at the pedal, and found that when fully depressed, the rubber 'cable saver' was getting heavily squashed, and too much load was being put on the system. So i put a smaller spacer in. You don't want to overload the system.

I decided to remove the spacer from the EL's throttle cable, returning it to std, because it was too sensitive, and when driving slowly i couldn't rest my foot on the pedal at all which created tension in my ankle.
