hey

I've tryed to re-seal my sump numerous times by using the 2 cork an 2 rubber seal design. I've gotten annoyed at this.

Has anyone just used a long bead of blackmaxx or sealant? or any other tips or tricks to do this?

you must be doing something wrong??

are you over tightening the bolts???

you can use a thin layer of gasket silicon on both sides of the gasket to help it seal..

Yeah just having major issues with sealing. Mostly the corners of the seals where it meets from rubber to cork. Do you apply silicone in the meets or?

I put a dab of ULTRA BLUE silicone at the points where the rubber meets the cork, and I also put a few dabs of it along the cork gasket at various points. As said, are you overtightening the bolts? Is the sump BENT? Possibly might pay to get another sump.

as troyman said and yes,load the joints with sealant.as you tighten the sump it may move as it moulds to the shape.

The sump has slight damage, though I didn't think it was enough to possibly cause damage. I think I might of put too much blackmaxx in a corner an it has pushed the cork seal out of place. I'll try a new sump an re-try one more time. I am really over sealing this thing haha.

My guess is over tightening.
Cork ones push out and split when over tightened.

They also only reccomend using Ultra Blue (Permatex) on the joins of the pieces.
I also put a small dab on the join between the block/timing cover/sump.
