And also about 20 or so EL Gli's, Futura's and Fairmonts got them because Ford had a problem on the production line when they were making the EL's. So instead of halting production they wacked a few Tickford 6's in to the Gli's. Rare as hens teeth obviously

It wouldn't bge the smartest thing to start paint an engine in paint that can't handle heat! Just plain dumb actually! Try some car paint shops. Or go to an Auto store and check out teh VHT range (they don't do metalics though). |

I heard someone says they did an undercoat of high temp paint (this was a rocker cover), then top coat of what was body colour, apparently that works ok. And it's been done before on show cars and that (EL 'Predator' comes to mind, as it's being talked about here recently).

I don't get how that would work, a coat of heat proof paint couldn't insulatye the other paint on top enough to stop it recieving the heat from the engine. You can get special paints made up and that which are heat proof. |

yeah, I'm a little skeptical myself, but I've heard it done a few times before. I guess, if I were going to try it it'd be a hidden area first, see how long it lasts.
