Hey guys, am gettin a 2.5" lukey sports exhaust put on my el xr6 soon as well as a set of lukey extractors. I have heard that pacemaker extractors are the way to go for the 4.0 motors, but lukey were more available and supposedly a bit cheaper. Would there be a noticable difference between the two types of extractors? The rest of the engine is stock so i'm thinking the difference between the two would hardly be noticable. Would i be correct in assuming this? Any other suggestions?

avaliability doesnt really matter, exhaust places can get them in in no time really.

what price are they charging you for lukeys? if you havnt paid or booked yet, ask bout pacey's

Not sure about the price of the extractors on their own but got quotes 870 for the extraxtors and exhaust fitted. Might see how much more expensive the pacies are thought. Not completely sure about the difference between the two myself castlegreyskull. I would take a wild guess to say it would be the length of the pipes.

Having gone from a set of Lukey extractors to a set of Pacemakers Comps, I can safely say DO NOT TOUCH THE LUKEY's!
Yes, the Lukeys are an improvement over stock, but the Pacemakers were again a fair noticable improvement over the Lukeys!
If you can;'t afford the Pacies or there not avaliable, get the exhaust done (as Lukey exhausts are f**k ace - the best there is in my opinion), but rather wait and save to get the Pacemakers!

Fair enough, think i will have to get the pacies then. Also do you reckon high-flow cats are worth it? The guy from carline reckons unless you've done serious mods it's not gonna make much of a difference.

Depends, if your stock cat converter is fine condition then mod it to have 2 1.2" flanges and leave it be. This is because Ford standard cat converters are around some of the highest to come OEM from any manufacturers, have been for decades now. I've seen flow charts comparing Ford cat converters to at the time high flow aftermarket converters in old 80's mod books and the difference was none, sometimes Ford ones were superiour than some of the aftermarket companies.
If it is rooted, change to a high flow. Why? Because high flows are CHEAPER than a brand new Genuine Ford cat converter and there not much more expensive than a universal general cat converter.

Pretty sure the old one is rooted, and if high flows are cheaper then I'd be cray not to go the high-flow.

One more thing. I've heard with extractors on the 4.0 motor that it's a good idea to put some kind of heat shield around the brake booster otherwise ot can cop too much heat. are they a hot spot under the engine with extractors?

I refitted my factory heat shield onto the new headers.
I havn't seen anyone whose built a heat shield around the brake booster - except for a few engine bays with snails hanging off the exhaust manifold. Your booster should be fine.

I can get Lukey parts really cheap so thats why I use them. I only paid $120 for my exhaust with a high flow cat and I can get the extractors for about $200 when I have more cash.
