help!! since I put extractors on. the accelerator and clutch cable keep melting they sit just above the extractors. I assume this is due to the heat shield being taken off when extractors were installed.

New heat shild or heat wrap around cables????

you should get a heat shield put on ,one of those nice shiney ones or heat wrap the extractors.

I think the issue is not protecting your cables, but why your extractors are getting so hot as to melt them.
Unless you've rerouted your cruise and accel cables weirdly, or your extractors are a weird design, that usually doesn't happen unless theres an issue with the tune.

It happens all the time. Even cars with factory exhausts & heat shielding will do it after a while. No heat shielding just speeds up the process.

Whats "a while".
If they melted accel cables from stock, there'd be less slow EA-EDs getting around with stretched cables.

How long is a piece of string? There are a lot of variables. But I have seen melted cables on stock EF/ELs.

One of those variables is the extractors being hotter because of a bad tune.
Base timing being retarded is the common one.
Just because you've had a couple of wrecks with melted cables doesn't make it normal :)

Rofl excluding the wrecks you still see it. Keep your eyes open. You'll see it on EF's too, where timing isn't (shouldn't be) an issue.

well my cars not a wreak! And even if a car did melt cables coz of bad timing(which I strongly doubt(doesnt make it a wreak)

My extractors get really really hot when I take the car for a good burn- this is normal..... sometimes on turbo modded falc's the extracs will glow red....are they wreaks too??

Unless a good burn for you consists of putting the handbrake on, going uphill and running the engine at maximum load for 10 minutes, your extractors should not be giving off enough radiant heat to melt your accel cruise and clutch cables.
If your timing is retarded, or your AFRs are f**k, your exhaust gas will be hotter.
But hey, just heat wrap the cables, it's easier then trying to find the actual source of the problem.
