no dont think so, also depends what series the computer is, example, smart shield or smart lock series 1 or series 2 / 3, and if your eb fairmont ghia has smart lock,

Quote:
TROYMAN.

the au has a tmap which mounts in the manifold which reads map and manifold air temp.
and e series has a map sensor mounted to the firewall with a vacuum hose..

also au computer runs different ignition system to the eb, au runs coil pack, eb has a dizzy

When you go there you should ask him generally as if you don't know the answer, and see if he gives you the right answer himself, he may tell you he's got a EL BBM and computer, or he may not even know about this and may get a suprise.(if that makes sense)
he may be using the AU computer though and doing a full AU fit. (loom parts etc)
Basically suss out if he knows what he's doing or not, cos if he dosnt you might wanna take the car back before he starts, realizes his error and stuffs it all up.

Even though if he does the loom swap over etc, it still wont run the car, becuase it has a dizzy unless he decides to run it as a coil pack, alot of head ache

Mate, the au computer wont run the engine, it has different ignition setup, it runn coil packs, also it could be smart shield or smart lock, the ecu plug is different between eb and au,

I think you should get it back off him, imo

put the dizzy in the au motor, run the el bbm, but use ur eb wiring harness to chop and rewire plugs and extend

also forgot to add mate, use the el ecu not the eb one, also have to wire in a rmp switch,

also i think you have to change some hoses as well etc

Hmm, ok.
Maybe he's gonna fit the AU in completely. I think it's possible, but I'm not sure on how much wiring needs changing for the AU computer to function properly.
I think the EEC-IV (EA-ED) and EEC-V (EF/EL) are essentially the same but with the knok sensor, coil pack, thermo fan extras. No idea about AU tho.
The way in the tech doco here is to do it the easiest way possible to make it a backyard job.
Bein a mechanic and having done it before he may have it sorted.
If you trust him then let it ride and it should work out.

If you don't mind me asking how much was the quote for the whole job?

My engine plan is similar to what you are getting done, AU block and head, EF/EL BBM with EL computer (smartlock tricked) with serpentine belt setup.

Quote:
1 BBM solenoid which is located behind washer bottle at passenger rear section of engine bay
2 Throttle pedal, cable and all associated bits and pieces.
3 EL Automatic or Manual ECU depending on which trans your car uses.
4 EF – EL Rocker cover and gasket to mount throttle pedal and Cruise control (if fitted) (cruise control is covered in another section of tech documents. I will endeavour to produce a step by step guide to convert EB-ED cruise to suit EF-EL manifold at a later date).
5 Remove fuel hoses at bottom end of hose down low on firewall on passenger side.
6 Vacuum tree from EL and all pipes.
7 EL engine wiring loom.

List of things that needs to be changed,
