haha. I ended up just replacing the busted one. It was going fine for the month or so after I changed it and I would have happily kept the car if I didn't get my asking price so it should be ok.
I ended up doing it myself after 2 places I took it to said they didnt have the special tool and another 2 places wanted to pull the head off to do it. I did it in my driveway, $30 later for the price of the tool!

i am currently repairing my friends au falcon which is not running on cylinders 1,2 or3 also.we have had the head recond and found that the car had blown out part of the inlet manifold gasket on cylinder 2 causing too much air into all 3 front pots

Scott,
Like you I'm hanging out for the "last page", but Hyena's last post was on the 9th, he got married on the 10th and might still be on his honeymoon.
Poor excuse to be away if your other rides not working, you think the wife would let him off early to finish the car!
It might be stating the ridiculous, but I would have done a compression test by now, just to be sure.
Get back soon Hyena and end the suspense, good luck in wedded bliss.
Paul
OOPs, lost the plot here didn't I?, shouldn't get up so early or I might try reading ALL the pages before rabbiting on.
Macca

Hyena,
Belated congratulations on both counts then! Only consolation is that after reading only one page I got the need for a comp. test right. Still doesn't wipe the red or the wry grin from my face.
Good luck mate,
Paul

hello i am in a spot of bother at the moment i have no spark from cylinder 4 , i have tryed with differant leads and it still wont spark .
i am a bit reluctant to belive that it is the coil as it looks like a pain in to change over is there anything else i can check before i fork out the dosh for another coil pack ???

re spot of bother 4 days to get the car a rwc before i have to pay to have the car rechecked

tjb45 wrote:
The ECU cant make it run on three cylinders, only 2, 4, or all 6.
The coil packs, are actually three double head coils, so 1 & 6 fire together, 2 & 5 and 3 & 4.
If say 1 is firing and 6 isn't, then there is something else wrong. Maybe a faulty lead, or a faulty coil pack, but it wont be the ecu or a sensor..

Good luck.

In NSW a miss in the engine [or a blown head gasket] doesn't prevent getting a RWC, maybe you can still get one in Vic?
Doesn't solve your problem but may reduce the urgency.
Cheers
Mac

I know the thread is old but stuff it

why the hell would a broken valve spring cause a miss on three cylinders?
