Hi all,
Ive had my XF engine rebuilt, and is all back together... The engine is back in the car and turns over real nicely without spark plugs... Now, a bit of a dilemma. Once the plugs are in the starter motor doesnt want to turn the engine. Theres a bit of movement but not much at all. Battery is fully sharged, and the started motor is all good as it came out of a car that was running. Any idea why this would be happening? Anybody had similar problems? And does anyone know how to get around this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks ! |

Have you tried shutting of fuel and turning engine over with a plug removed?

Get the battery load tested, just because you charged it doesn't mean its fine.
If it passes and doesn't crank with the coil disconected then you probably have a dead winding in the starter. Any auto sparky can check the starter if you take it to them for free. |

sparkplugs are phisically removed from the engine...
Brand new battery... Hoever after some stuffing round tonight, finally found a battery that will turn the engine over... Pretty much solved thanks. Bit of tinkering tomorrow and she should be a goer |
