Hi all,

Ive had my XF engine rebuilt, and is all back together... The engine is back in the car and turns over real nicely without spark plugs...

Now, a bit of a dilemma. Once the plugs are in the starter motor doesnt want to turn the engine. Theres a bit of movement but not much at all.

Battery is fully sharged, and the started motor is all good as it came out of a car that was running.

Any idea why this would be happening? Anybody had similar problems? And does anyone know how to get around this?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks !

Have you tried shutting of fuel and turning engine over with a plug removed?

Get the battery load tested, just because you charged it doesn't mean its fine.

If it passes and doesn't crank with the coil disconected then you probably have a dead winding in the starter. Any auto sparky can check the starter if you take it to them for free.

sparkplugs are phisically removed from the engine...

Brand new battery... Hoever after some stuffing round tonight, finally found a battery that will turn the engine over...

Pretty much solved thanks. Bit of tinkering tomorrow and she should be a goer
