First time i have ever heard of this!- i have cleaned both throttle bodies on both my B series several times-no dramas at all. Also once cleaned ran much smoother. |

i have done just about everything i can think of to sort out my rough idel, next step will be a scan at ford to see if anything is wrong with the ECU and possibly replace injectors, has anyone seen injectors in a state that would give a 4.0 a rough idle? i did my fuel filter on the weekend and on the out side of it the fuel was coming out black so im guessing my injectors have been copping a not so sweet ride for a while..
also can you go to ford and get like a diagnostics workup and a list of things that are wrong? |

another thing to try as it is free is resetting your TPS.
before turning the key fully depress the accelerator pedal and hold it down as you turn the key as if starting the car. the engine will turn over however not start. hold the key on for about ten seconds then switch it of. release foot from pedal and start the car as normal congrats you have just reset your throttle position

also something else to think about the cam angle sensors intake an exhaust...
also get really with your wollet causde my mate got quoted quite a little bit of money we went somewhere else an payed 20... 3 or 4 of his coils were fried... replaced them sorts help next that popped up was the sensors an yeah haven't got around to doing it seeing as he is about on 6 $ first year plumber it also has bad fuel economey ... check vac leaks also ... found one of his was missing half of it lol.. dunno if any of that helps but though i'd through it at you... cheers Dan

Problem Solved!!!
For all those who guessed intake leak / faulty gasket, you WIN! The inlet manifold gasket had a crack in it and was leaking. $300 later and it is running like brand new. I keep thinking it has stalled sometimes cos it is running so smooth and quiet now! Very happy. Thanks for all the tips too! |

Very happy. Thanks for all the tips too! Great you got it sorted, generally when High rev at idle or rough indicates a vacuum leak from the inlet manifold gasket. I only just read some parts of your thread and as GAb 1 suggested to spray some aerostart along the inlet manifold to see if the revs change. You can buy a gasket and fit it yourself for under $40, I can see why Tickford_6 gets the s**t!@!!!! You basically told them on your first post that you have a high idle(inlet vacuum leak) and people are telling you too clean your throttle body... god help me...lol.lol...

I just had mine done too last thursday, cars never ran so smooth.
Only paid half what you paid tho. Shows you really do need to shop around.x

Let us know how you go. Gab Thanks for the tip Gab. My son's BA ute had all the symptoms described, and it turned out to be a crack in the lower intake manifold. Cost him $200 at his local garage in Wollongong inc. parts. Now runs as smooth as a baby's... We thought we'd fix it ourselves, got the throttle body & plenum off ( the top part of the intake manifold), but ran out of time. It looked to be pretty straight forward though, & he could have bought the inlet gasket on eBay for about $30. Didn't need to replace the plenum gasket. I reckon it would take an amateur like me about 3 hours to do the job. Thanks again Bill |

Do not waste your money on Throttle Position Sensor. They never go bad, you can reset it, but. Check the voltage, 0.98 V close throttle.
