Check the connector off the temperature sender off the thermostat housing. If this plug is disconnected or bad connection the fans run constantly.

Had a quick check at the connector & with it removed the fans still operate but the temp gauge goes straight to the hot end of scale. I have located a wiring diagram & will look further.

Any other ideas would be great !!!!!! Cheers drewmcc |

The EF's have 4 connections to the ECU for the thermo fans (EL's/XH's have 2). This doco http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=54 has some info. I'd say putting the ECU into diagnostic mode may help more - it will test the thermo system, and bring up any fault codes applicable (there are individual fault codes for all 4 relays for example). This would've saved you time pulling the individual relays - you may have missed something. A basic workshop manual like a Gregory's or Ellery's will detail how this is done. Otherwise I think you're clutching at straws . . . .
