Cheers well if when you fit this wade cam your car is now SLOWER it gives you every right to bag them. dood Mate to explain it simply without getting right back into it, your a poof... WADE CAMS ROCK!!!! Now now guys....be nice. In any case, to be grammatically correct....it's you are a poof, not your a poof. One must always use proper english. |

I'm in the same position as Stockstandard.
I've used a 1004/110 regrind and a 1521a/114 billet. Not one hint of chain back lash and grinding has been spot on both times. Like Mark, I'm also on the outlook for a bigger cam, something that doesnt taper off like the 1521a does. Any 235deg 110LSA 550thou camshafts on the way from wade???? On another note I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who values propper use of the Queens English. (I'm sure people remember my "SMS" thread)

Better, in terms of more power, yes. All cams are designed to produce different results. Some idle like a standard cam. Some start working real low in the rev range and then ease off mid range. Others don't start to work until 2800 / 3000 but are much stronger at the top end. My point is, a "hot" cam is no better than a "mild" street cam if you're looking for something that will give good fuel economy when you drive to church on Sunday or whatever. On the other hand, if you want something for high performance then obviously, a mild cam is not for you. Yes, l know, I'm rambling on, stating the bleeding obvious. You'd be surprised however how many people ring me at Wades and make reference, in particular, to a high performance cam being "better" than something milder. If it doesn't meet your requirements, it isn't better because it doesn't suit your needs. Therein ends the lesson for tonight. Time for sleep. Cheers Chris WADE CAMS |

In what order would these cams go in terms of performance/size etc?
1004, 997b, 1636, 1604, 1521a And for what ones are a Vernier gear/valve springs/ecu needed? which ones can be reground from a stock ef cam? cheers

from my understanding:
from mild to wild 1604, 1004, 1636, 977b, 1521a vernier gear would be recommended for all, how ever not *needed* 1521a deffinately needs springs, not sure on 977b, but i'm be inclined to say it does.
