Didnt get through the whole thread (time), but have you considered either :
1. Ford Escape 3.0 V6, with the Supercharger from the states
2. Mazda CX-7 Turbo 3.5l V6 engine in current Mazda CX7.

Both of these engines are fairly direct derivatives of the engine ford is talking up for the new falcons to come. I found the 3.0 a bit peaky towing an escape, but with the S/C it would be about right ;)

Here are some links i found on the S/C Ford escape:

http://www.kennebell.net/superchargers/ ... ribute.htm

http://www.dragtimes.com/Ford-Escape-Timeslip-6589.html

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/tun ... index.html

Since the Escape has been sold with the V6 in Australia for a while now it may not be too hard to source a motor, plus you can obviously order a S/C easily, so the availability side of the equation is probably met.

After this quick look i didn't see any power figures at the flywheel, but at the rear wheels there is 150kW and 316Nm.

Hang on, i think the engine is mounted transversely, if so, that makes it much harder to fit north-south.

The escape engine is Traverse, but that doesnt count it out. I cant remember for sure whats at which end, but there are versions of that engine for RWD application.

I just realised too that you may have had a bum steer on the trans info : The V6 commo box from a VN, and possibly VP were fully hydraulic. You can put them behind anything. Later of course needs an ECU, however you can use the KalMaker Software with any Holden ECU to do the job for not so much money.

On the comment about Holdens Handling : Many of them do, and most of ours that do have had aftermarket work. I just prefer Fords

Im liking this thread - would be nice if people who had actual usefull info posted rather than ... anyway

4 years ago people were saying the exact same thing about bolting a turbo to a falcon, look how many there are now.
Just because something hasn’t been done before doesn't mean its not worth doing or at least looking at. People come up was great original ideas all the time, not that I'm saying this is, but you never know.

Here's something to lighten things up a bit. I find this car kind of comical, like a movie car. It has a VG30DETT producing 1400hp.

Why does that lighten s**t up?
How much horsepower does/did the Nizpro Barra 6 make?

Plus it looked basically stock externally.

I totally agree with you, that some idea's are worth pursuing, but this ISN'T one of them. Like Tickford_6 said " either way you look at it, its still a dumb idea." But i might just humour the idea for a while, what harm can it do

VG30DETT's are great motor's, they also came out in the nissan maxima.
It's possible to get big HP out of almost any motor, if you have the money!

Ok Calm_Diplomat, cross breeding like this in the pursuit of perfect weight distribution would only be worthwhile if:
a)you were either an engineering student who is writing a thesis on weight distribution (and weight distribution alone) and your parents have bottomless pockets

or b) you had an engineering business that had a budget of several thousand blank cheques.

Say you managed to pull it off. You still have a less than ideal suspension setup to contend with. Then you will have to convert your suspension to push/pull rod (open wheeler style). Then what? You will see how less than ideal your tintop actually is with all the flex going on. So in goes more monkey bars than the local primary school play ground. Now what? You've realised your house brick like box car has a drag coefficient greater than a whole house full of bricks. Time to alter the body work, A LOT.
Your car starts to resemble a certain type of race car but for the life of you, you can't pinpoint it. When you realise you finally turned your boxcar into a sports sedan you also realise it would have been much cheaper to buy Ol Thommo's one he had for sale just down the road. Instead you spent a few hundred thousand turning a road legal Box car into a backmarker for the sports sedans.

Quite fair and tru but that wouldn't be unique, imagine for a second how bland the car industry would be without people like Rod Hadfield, Von Dutch, Boyd Coddington, chip foose and the rest of the guys out there who doint give a tuppany f$%# what others think they just build em the way they want look at Rod Hadfield who elso would put an WW2 V12 plane engine in a 55 chev, no one else would but what a feat to actually make it fit and to actually get it registered is unreal. then you have Von Dutch an crazy and eccentric old man who passed away in 1992. the man who many around the world believe made flames on cars cool. if these guys weren't doing things that was different we'd all be driving white automatic camrys that barely made a whisper of noise.

The Toyota 2jz-gte is a crazily insane motor from the factory i would like some one on here to tell me of another production car engine that, unopened with bolt on modz will make 800hp on factory rods, factory pistons, factory crank.
Many of you will call me a F#$%witt and what ever else and that i not a tru ford fan well i am i have mates with 1jz's 2jz's and falcons and commodores to hiluxs and turbo coronas.
i say ef + 2jz + getrag + 9 inch = a whole lot of fun, ok thats the expensive option but he didnt really specify a budgettr in his origninal post. dont be so single minded when it comes to brand of motor or box who cares, as long as it goes hard looks good and lays a mean skid. :!:

They took it out of that blue xr6t becuase they said it wasn't drivable. They put it into there nizpro teritory and detuned it.
