nope, LSD's are optional on standard falcons even with the BA's
if you've just got a GLi 6 cyl, odds are that it's a non LSD

Pretty sure EB's copped a 3:08:1 diff ratio.
LSD is definately optional on all falcons and fairmonts, the cars in the E series that got the LSD as standard were the fairmont ghias and XR's. |

i was imformed you could test by jacking the back wheels off the ground, and spinning 1 wheel, if the other wheels spins the opposite way, no LSD, if it spins the same way, LSD..
oh, and dont forget to take the handbrake off ![]()

EB could have either a 3.08:1 or a 3.27:1

hijacking the thread a bit, ive got an au2 3.45 LSD on my fairmont ghia, but bothe wheels only spin some of the time. a mate of mine rekons the clutch inside the diff is prolly rooted, but doesnt it take a hell of a lot of punishment to kill any aspect of the diff?

try giving it an oil change. and use good quality LSD oil. in my race car before we fitted the diff lock . we would run 50% lsd oil and 50% normal gear oil. tightened the diff up heaps. BUT not recommended if you want it to last a while. ![]() |

Apologies for thread mining but this can hopefully answer a question that's been bugging me for a while. A while back when my dad and I were changing the oil in my (EF1) Fairmont wagon my dad noted that it was easier to get it up onto the ramps than his GLi and suggested it may have an LSD. The diff casing held no clues (the manual states it's supposed to have a tag or something on it when its an LSD but I saw nothing of the sort) so I just shrugged it off. A month or so back I took it back home to have a problem with the brakes investigated and in the process it was jacked up on a hoist. I took the oppurtunity to have a good look around the rear axle and again saw no stickers or markings of any kind to suggest it was an LSD. I tried rotating one of the wheels but noticed that the other wheel didn't move it all (I've now realised I may have had the behaviours for both kinds of diff reversed making my assumption at the time that it was a single-spinner inaccurate). janek's problem sounds an awful lot like what I witnessed with my car up on the hoist so is it possible it is in fact an LSD only something is wrong with it? Also, what ration is it most likely to be?
