Hey guys....
How goes the XR6 exhaust system on a EL falcon 6cyl. Wanna get it breathing a bit better and sounding a bit throatier, but without that friggin cabin drone you get from a cheap set-up....

if your woried about dronning and that add more mufflers and resinators into the set up and improve the sound deadening in the rear of the vehicle.

Exactly ... more mufflers/resonators .. the quieter it will be. Or do what I did in my XG and put one small muffler ... and scare people when you back off ... LOL

If your not wanting any sound, just tell them you want sports mufflers with no sound so you got the breathing without the noise. Some people prefer that.

Cool - Good advice guys.
Do you get a nice little boost with the headers and bigger pipes? I hear the top end improves a bit....

More mid-range punch ... and nowhere near a restricted at the top end .. the engine isn't choking on it's own fumes ... exhaust gas scavanging is much better with headers on.
It does make a difference ... I also reckon you get better fuel economy at freeway speeds as well after you get the full exhaust system is done. One drawback is you lose a little bot of bottom-end torque ... but sometimes it's hardly noticable.

Hmmm...more mid range. A man could do a lot with that....
Do you need to get the car re-tuned after headers, or does the engine managment system know its s**t?

I can't really see much difference tuning would do after changing an exhaust ... the gain from a freer flowing exhaust is decent enough.
If you change your cam for a high-torque mid range cam (Wade make them) ... then yes ... definitely do a re-tune as your timing will change considerably. But not really with an exhaust upgrade.

Whats the outlay ya reckon? Tell me its under a G.....please man..... I was quoted $900 from Carline mufflers for Pacemaker headers and full 2.5" exhaust system for my AUII ute ... custom pipework (as there is no off-the-shelf system for utes. For sedans though there are very good off-the-shelf systems that are cheaper than what I am getting done. I'd say $900 at the max ... most likely less for an off-the-shelf system (if you get one of these ... try and get a mandrel bent system). The custom one I am having done is press bent ... and they have to be careful of the LPG tanks on mine too ... there's clearance issues that need to be taken into account.

Its about $350-450 for a mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust, add another $400-600 ontop for extractors fitted, paceys/lukies/etc.
If your in Sydney, try Tuffy Toned in Alexandria they supposedly do a good job, Liverpool Exhausts, or if your outwest WEST WEST supposedly Richmond Place, windsor exhausts i think its called? no idea. Exhaust gain is approx 8-13rwkw depending on car, you dont need to do anything as your computer will learn it all itself overtime |
