If I mount my amp on the seat back next to the gas tank, Is there a good chance of the tank exploding/catching fire if something goes wrong?
I don't know how safe gas tanks are. I'm thinking it should be ok, but I'd like to hear from somebody who knows a bit about the tanks. |

bahahahahahahahahahaha. your not serious right? the only way it'd catch fire is if you have a leak. and you'd know anyway. it'd stink. also why would an amp make a stray spark? you either just earthed something out or there is something seriously wrong with your amp.
think of it this way. if gas tanks were that dangerous they wouldn't be allowed to be put in cars in the first place

I have my Sub loud enough to shake the rear view mirror on metallica binge sessions - no worry in the world.
I'd be more concerned about hearing damage.

i have my battery, a 900rms monoblock and a 4x100rms amp next to my gas tank lol
sall good! only issue would be a leak as said.

The stock systems in most cars can do that! Ok thanks guys. Ashcook your reply was the best. I have noticed incidentally how heavy they are! What sort of weight do you reckon the system adds? The tank seems to take a good 50-75mm out of the rear ride height. |

the back of my el came down 25mm after gas was installed
if lpg weights are the same as petrol, its about 1kg per litre, so i guess add another 68kg to the empty tanks weight. i dont think u will have problems with sparks, i have welded quite a few cars around the petrol tank area and lpg tank area repairing rust and modifying stuff and im still around. always gets a bit of adrenalin going the first few welds though... |

Thanks craig,that makes me feel better. It has king lows in the back,but tucks the tyre with a tank of gas, a quarter of petrol. Sits level with supers in the front too.

Yeah its all good ive got a Kicker sound system in my BA and my amp is on the back of the seat sits about an inch away from the tank totally fine and that sub flogs no trouble at all.

LPG doesn't equal anywhere near the weight of petrol, 0.54 kg / litre rule of thumb is that a full LPG tank will weight roughly the size of the tank in Litres as KG. so a 68L tank will weigh around 68KG full. and ~30KG empty.
