Hmmmm Dont bag the JVC, they make alot better car audio stuff than Sony! Its a simple relay that has stuck closed. Open the top and give it a slight tap with a screw driver handle, It may fix it. If it doesnt that is why you keep your reciept's.

better then sony? It's on par with JVC....I've repaired so mjuch of their stuff and it's not a relay, there is no relay inside of it, it's transistor switched switched...solid state...tap away you won't change a thing.

Sounds to me as if the remote sensor input has blown. These are usually voltage sense circuits that use a open collector transistor switch that will activate the amp on voltage input. Possibly damaged by static discharge which these circuits are susceptable to. You say you recently did a loom change? There ya go...

not many people know how to handle electronic devices correctly. This is why most companys give a big fat "f**k off" to warranty claims on average-joe, self installed equipment.

u need to follow the remote wire back from your amp and test it with a test light to see if it is connected to constant power or acc power... it should be acc

Hahahaha, that made my day.

Hey tasmaniak = I see you point about cheap stuff, but i've bought cheap stuff that has lasted for years. In the last few years i have bought a few systems for different cars and had nothing but drama, EXCEPT FOR ALPINE. My last big system was a weapon.

Thing is i dont want a big system in my car anymore, as i have thousands of dollars worth of audio gear at home. The premium sound systems in the EF/L series f**k rock, as if they lose, have you even heard one? For a stock system, they sound very good indeed.

As the jvc has turned out this way, its a shame, but its going in the bin.

Andrew.
