well anybody know where there is one available, just want to get a db reading, any help is appreciated...

Well i dont think too many ppl are gonna own their own $1300 Term Lab meter...sooo ... You can buy an SPL mter for yourself at about $299.
Obviously like me Id be keen to be able to go into somewhere and test it out but dont really work that way....you can also check http://www.dbdragracing.com.au for when the next SPL comp is on. You could also jump on http://www.caraudioaustralia.com. and see if any canberra members have an spl meter you could use. I dont think audiotech in Tuggeranong have one but worth a try same with BDL car stereo in Fyshwick.

Annual pyrotehnics trade convention.
The largest inporter of fireworks in the country is based in Gunning NSW and has an annual trade show in Seot. I am brining up my crew to see the new product. We come up each year and i have already ordered 180 cases to get me started. Yes i am comming up in my car. Unfortunately on a pretty tight time frame but certainly time to meter a car. We arrive sat about 2-3pm in canbera. Check into a motel and go to gunning to te fireworks magazine to check out the stock. Then come back to the motel to get changed and leave about 6pm to go back to gunning for a night of pyrotechnics. Then first thing sunday have breakfast and leave for the 7hr return trip. PS the pyrotechncis demonstration and show is open to the publc for a gold coin donnation also. The pyro's sit in a slightly different area but it is definately worth seeing if you have nothing else on.

thats sounds tops hopefully we'll be able to catch up maybe meet somewhere? If you could fit time into metering the Jeep that would be good.

Too bad, last weekend we held a test and tune day and had a dB meter on loan. I've got one myself but it only goes to 130dB.

yeh u can get / build cheap ones that measure up to 130db amazing how the price shoots up to be able to receive any higher reading

yeah the microphones need to be highly specialised to read higher. I've seen upto 190dB units.

Mine reads upto 180db
you can buy a digital one that reads to 130db for under $100.

can i buy these from jaycar or something? are they just little hand held ones or similar? where are the posistioned in the car?
