Does anyone know if these things work as well as they claim?

I'm not interested in hearing about your mate's mate's brother's mate who spoke to someone who reckons their mate has one and he thinks it's s**t!

Only interested in comments from people who've seen them in the flesh and witnessed them and their results.

I've got the Pro RR model. and It works just fine - BUT, there has to be one.

It get's confused by wheel spin, try to minimise it, and it'll be close enough.

I've used my down at the drags quite a few times and gotten results very close to my timesheet PROVIDED you level the g-tech properly (set it to 0 spot on, not -0.1 or +0.1). Good fun toy regardless.

Plug into cig lighter, and stick to the windscreen. And adjust the angle til it's level (it tells you).

doesn't know the rpm, its just an accelerometer... measures g forces and compares with time... i had the cheaper older model and it worked well... but showed MPH not KMH

The GTech Pro SS and RR models do detect RPM, they do it by measuring the alternator whine in the cig lighter power. Pretty cool. not always accurate however.

In my EL it worked fine until I installed an CDI mutli spark ingnition system, then it was all over the place.

In the GT-P it starts ok, but loose accuracy over about 4500rpm.

Cool, cheers for the replies guys. I guess I'll be grabbing one to have a play with. How user friendly is the software?
