Not that hard. I have thought about it for a couple of guys who have wanted to maintain factory systems. I think it will work well.

premium sound systems aren't worth the money.
the speakers are precise, the HU doesn't play MP3s, and the sub fairly weak. the only good is amp and the stacker go and buy proper after market stuff.

yea i wana buy a 10" free air sub to put in there, i was thinkin of just making somethin out of mdf and stickin it under the mounting of the sub and screwing through that, into the parcel shelf
the only thing im worried about is where the brake like on the back window, the hump thing on the parcel shelf, how would u get around that? i had a 10" sub enclosed in a box b4, but need to save boot space for cricket gear and golf sticks so its not an option anymore

Fitting a ten to the standard eight mount is really quite easy just use a ring made of mdf that adapts the two sizes.
It's what I use and it works quite well.... Cheers, Outlawxr6...

i agree the premium sound system sux, i got rid of mine for $200 which basically paid for my new mp3 WMA player
 it cranks heaps better now and yeah 200 songs pre cd! cant beat that

for a system thats 10 years old they where prety good. you godda remember that back when they came out copying cds was cunning edge technology and mp3 was not even heard of. i'd like to see if you go out and buy a system and it last for 10 years. Most of the cheaper units laser quality deminishes that much that after 3 or so years they struggle to play any cd without skipping.
i bet in 10 years time our mp3 systems will be pretty piss poor.

Everyone has their own opinion. In their day they may have been quite a good system. Technology has progressed and there are much better systems around, however if retaining the factory look & ease of installation is important then the premimum sound is a simple upgrade. In answer to the original post i do not have one available myself but have you tried a wreackers?
I assume he has considered going aftermarket and for whatever reason has decided not to. Everyone is entitled to their own views. Upgrading to the premimum sound is the final step you can make in that direction though, if you wish to upgrade anything else later you would need to get rid of it all. (i.e. amps, speakers, headunit)

dont knock the au2 premium sound... puts to shame 80% of other cars out there, including customs.
ive got one in the au2 ghia, but am upgrading to McAlpine HU this week... ive been wanting to upgrade the sub, but never had the balls to look, anyone done it before in the good ole au?
