ha ha nice.

your install looks good mate, came up really well. my only question is, how do you get to the spare wheel? your floor looks to be solid.

I cut a piece of carpet the exact shape of the floor. (not hard when the floor ended up being a nice perfect rectangle :D ) and that just sits in there nice and snug but isn't stuck down. I can remove the carpet and get to the removable panel underneath. You can see the design on page 7 of this post. Very simple... Very practicle :D Done in 2 days... My kind of mod 8-)

ahh of course. i had seen that pic before.

very nice then. i like!!

Thanks man. It's seriously one of the simplest mods I think I've done. Easier when you've got a bit of woodworking practice. But a mod that is definately well worth doing for anyone!

I've got a Pioneer 15" that fires toward the back of the car.
Turned the box around one day thinking it would sound better facing the backseat and the quality of bass in the cab went to s**t. Plenty of vibration but not much sound, so turned it back around the way it was.

With the subs facing certain ways, i remeber back in 2004, when i first got my sub, i was doing some research and found a website (sorry too long ago to remeber the address) of some american blokes who had done testing on this exact topic.

They tested a heap of different body styles and for sedans they found that the sub facing rearwards was the best, had best SQ and SPL.

Feel free to try and find the site, i found it off google.

Agree with the above. I was at a SQ comp yesterday, and was doing some last minute testing, on of the guys suggested having the subs forward facing, we tried it, and apart from adding some rattles it just wasn't as 'tight' so they quickly went back to rear facing.

Ended up coming 4th on the day out of 16 in Amateur Street class.

Nah man. I bought this amp for $170 off eBay brand new. I'm flippin impressed with it. I would have usually never bought SONY but this was cheap and I'm hell glad I did :D I kinda wish I got the matching 4ch... Woulda' finished it all nicely...

Mine is the 4ch! I could do you a deal if you're really that interested

I know, I know, What can I say I was short of cash at the time, sale on at Strathfield... However I will say that it has exceeded my expectations, doesn't do that bad a job at all for the price.

I did see the Alpine MRP-F450 on sale at JB the other day though and was very tempted, mostly because it would match my MRP-M650 on the other wall (superficial, I know!)

The big question is: would it really be worth spending another $3-400 on a quality 4 channel? (I'm running Alpine Type R 5x7 splits in the front and Type R 6x9s in the back). Would the difference really be THAT noticeable?

(And does anyone know if that amp - the MRP-F450 - is actually any good?)

hehe i picked up my MTX monoblock for 100 bucks ex demo from strathfield and got the 2 new MTX subs and JBL rears from strathfield 2 nights ago in their midnight sale :P

the misses will get this amp as soon as i get my 1500wrms jaycar amp. altho full MTX boot would look nice... i just want more power :P

in my experiences of BOSS audio (which was actually quite desent and lasted 4 years till gf blew it up a few months back), audio master (hahah its a joke, but is 89 bucks rrp and does enough bass for gf till my new amp arrives) and the MTX and i can say, no longer will i sacrifice quality over price.

my opinion is upgrade the amp.

haha... I know what you mean... I got this simple idea off of someone who did a similar thing but in the boot of an EB. I really didn't want anything flashy or showcar style. I just wanted something neat, simple and practicle.
If you need any help with finiding fixing points or anything it's all still fresh in my mind as I only finished it today :D
Long time to wait until Uni holidays... at least you've got lots of time to think about the design during tests and exams lol

Actually, quite seriously... I wouldn't mind it... I've got a good JVC 4x55watt RMS amp. Great quality. RRP is almost the exact same as the SONY... They're basically the same amp but different brand.............. Consider a trade perhaps...?

Haha not such a bad idea but will pass for now... if I'm going to get a new amp I will upgrade to something significantly better like the Alpine. BUT if I do decide to go for the upgrade then I'll let you make first bid on the Sony

And that ^^^ is shaping up real nice, look forward to seeing it finished :D
