hey guys,
i have recently just cooked my ex124 i thought they were rated at 150wrms, my amp gives out 150wrms so i had the gain at full, only to see written on the back of the sub, when i took it out of the box, that it was rated at 125wrms, lesson learnt i dont have a lot of money so my options are limited, i have two choices that i see 1) buy another ex124, on special at repco for $99, and use the old box (sealed), and run off my current amp, but not at full gain! 2) buy a es124, at jb for $149, also use my old sealed box. i might be able to get it cheaper ill let you know asap, also run it off my current amp i dont want to spend more on a sub as i would probably have to buy a new amp, too much money any thoughts? thanks Daniel

Doesn't your amp distort when it's on full gain? Just buy another one and don't run it right up.

you should be fine to run that sub on that amp its better to over power a sub than to under power it if you under power it your more likly to blow it (done it many times before till some reps decided to tell me

yes you are better to over power, it will run much better. How ever i do believe that by having the gains at full doesnt neccesarily mean its getting 150watts where as 3/4 gain 125watts. By having the gain at full you were more than likely clipping it therefore causing it to burn out. Get an amp more powerfull 200-300watts and use minimum gains.

The gains on the amp should match the out put from the HU.
