(White BA so i was thinking of using some touch up paint... but after i used it on one stone chip i noticed the touch up paint it a different white to my car :| wtf

Well it's best to get a stone chip and scratch repair company in your state/area to re paint the front bar
Using touch up, unless you want to spend ages with a toothpick, will give a blotty finish and look tatty

Once you get them fixed, either apply a stone chip stopper spray which is a rock hard coating but will leave a thick orange peel finish which you may not like, apply that 3M transparent film, get a car bra from the great guys at car bra in campbellfield, making sure to apply glad wrap to the bonnet and front before applying the bra to prevent scratches and scuffing from the wind

If you chose to avoid a car bra, make sure on trips to stay at least two car lengths behind a truck and not sit up it's bum and go to the extreme left of the road when a truck is coming towards you

I did that on saturday when I went to millard's place and didn't get a chip, although my car has heaps of acrylic sealant coatings and just put a coat of a rock hard 12 month carnuaba wax on the day before
Great stuff that.

I'll let you know how i go... it is about time for a new front bar anyways. so i might bite the bullet and get an XR6T front bar...

Hey mate, I have just gone and put 3 different cutting compounds on, as the paint had a real rough texture to it. but after cutting it 3 times, with different cuts, i cant get the roughness out of it. I took it too a detailer, one of my mates so not sure how good he reallyy is, but he said he hasnt seen anything like it before, it is like it has overspray all of it, but its not overspray.

Do you have any suggestions on oher things i could do? i am going to take it to the spraypainters and see what they say, but would like a opinion on it first.

cheers

Ben

Sounds like a heap of industrial fallout (iron filings) from foundries, railway lines and factories and possibly other contamination as well

My advice is get yourself a clay bar and go over it while the car is wet (after shampooing it) or use a proper clay lubricant with the car clean and dry

I have the sonus ultra fine clay bars, though I think you may need a fine or medium grade clay
If you car is not black, I recommend the red clay bar from clay magic
It will leave some marring that you will have to polish out with a soft to medium polish but all that roughness will be long gone and you will not believe the difference

I hope you used the cutting compounds by hand as a machine buffer used three times would take off most of your clearcoat or single stage paint
Soon the werkstatt 200 gram medium clay bars will be in stock
Look up my claying tips way back in this thread (probably page 2 - 5) for application instructions and more tips

You may find it hard to believe but you can have an old car with paint better than new

All it takes is the right maintenance and being smart about polishing
Sure my bus is only eight years old but it is getting better with age and I'm not polishing it

This is the result from two steps with a ultra fine compound, burnishing polish, clearkote vanilla, red and yellow mooses, five coats of jeff's werkstatt acrylic jett and four coats of collinite marque de elegance wax
With every coat, the paint gets deeper, wetter and shinier

Got a real glassy finish to it now with another two coats to go before the pores are full

This is my car's bonnet today!
